STEP 1. MAKE HSTs

Let’s use the 4-at-a-time method to make half square triangles! Place [A] squares right sides together. Sew around the edges using a ¼” seam. Cut along each diagonal to create 4 HST units. Press towards the darker fabric. Trim each to 5” square.

STEP 2.  MAKE HOURGLASS

Mark pencil line along the diagonal of the wrong side of one [C] square. Place right sides together with other [C] square. Sew ¼” seam on both sides of diagonal line. Cut along diagonal. Press to the dark side. Again, draw diagonal line on back of one of the HST units. Place HST untits right sides together so the fabrics are opposite and seams nest. Sew ¼” seam on both sides of diagonal. Cut along diagonal
Press seams open. Trim to 3½” square. (You will have 2 blocks - only need one)
