Welcome to Moda Fabrics!
Cut... sew... repeat...
Cut... sew... repeat...
That phrase has been in my head all day. I'm not sure who to blame as I don't yet know who owns the adorable little notebook with that printed on the cover.
There are notebooks and datebooks, address books and I-don't-remember-what-else that can be ordered with the cover of your choice and whatever personalization you desire. They're made by a company named May Designs. (I may or may not have ordered one...)
Notebooks and paper have been living side-by-side on my desk with fabric this week. Lists! I've got lists. After working hard not to mention that "event" coming later this year, it has become THE subject. Planning has begun. Schedules are being made and to-do lists are being compiled. ("Putting my head in the sand" may or may not be on my list.)
So with all that, today is just about a couple of fabric-related things that have come across my desk this past week.
Do you remember the Moda Modern Building Blocks Quilt from last year?
It's on my "quilt bucket list" - except in different fabric. (Of course.)
A friend asked if I'd seen some of the recent quilts on Instagram in the #modabuildingblocks group. When my blocks went from being a "work in progress" to a "I'll finish this before the next millennium" project, I kind of stopped seeing everybody else finishing their quilt. It was too distracting.
But on a whim, I went and looked. Wow. Wow! I might have to re-adjust my project list.

There was only one fabric-related item from my desk that I can show you right now - it's been there on-and-off since Market. A nice stack of strips was sitting in front of my computer my first day back. Chelair had put it there after hiding it a couple of weeks before. It hadn't been mine - not for a lack of trying.
It's like this... the fabric decorating the tables at the Moda Party are Moda fabrics from new collections. Lissa and Ducky had pulled an assortment of different prints and well... I loved it! It was an interesting, odd, curious, absolutely gorgeous and funky mix. After the fabric was cut and pinked on the big machine, there was a stack of strips left over. The strips varied in size from 4" to 6" wide x maybe 38" long. (The selvages had been removed.) I casually asked what was going to be done with the "leftovers"... emphasizing the word. I thought it was casual. Chelair saw through that immediately and the next day, the strips had disappeared. Noooooo!
I teased that I was going to stay until the end of the party to help the cleaning crew and "rescue" the left-behind tablecovers. (Except I was serious... while this was all said in fun, I really didn't want any of this gorgeous fabric being tossed out.) For better and worse - depending on your perspective - the decorations at the party are also considered "table favors" and there weren't many covers left. Those that were left, I helped collect for several Aussie ladies who were also eyeing
my the fabric.
On the left, from top to bottom: Farmhouse by Fig Tree Quilts / Gooseberry by Lella Boutique / Ambleside by Brenda Riddle / Prairie by Corey Yoder / Tucker Prairie by OneCanoeTwo / Farmhouse / Tucker Prairie / Bright Sun by A Quilting Life / Tucker Prairie / Hello Darling by Bonnie & Camille / Farmhouse / Gooseberry
On the right, from top to bottom: Tucker Prairie / Tucker Prairie / Farmhouse / Hi-De-Ho by Me & My Sister / Prairie / Ambleside / Simply Colorful / Hi-De-Ho / Gooseberry / Ambleside / Tucker Prairie / Prairie
I'm making something very simple with it, something that I think fits the "Prairie Prom" theme of the party. With a little luck, I'll finish that by next week.
Then I can get back to my lists.
I'm pretty sure it's going to get longer quickly - even as I'm crossing things off.
Happy Friday! Have a terrific weekend!
